Information on KidCare

Keeping your kids healthy

 

WHAT IS KIDCARE?

A state program that offers health care coverage to children and pregnant women and help in paying premiums of employer-sponsored or private insurance plans.

 

 WHAT IF MY FAMILY
ALREADY HAS HEALTH INSURANCE?

Families who have employer-sponsored or private health insurance can receive help through KidCare Rebate to pay their insurance premiums if their family income falls between certain income standards. KidCare participants enrolled in employer or private plans receive the services provided by those plans.

 

 WHAT HEALTH SERVICES DOES KIDCARE COVER?

Services for kids enrolled in KidCare Assist, Share, and Premium include doctor visits, dental care, well-child visits, prenatal care, specialty medical services, hospital care, emergency services, prescription drugs, and more. In Moms and Babies, pregnant women receive pre-natal care and othe rmedical services and the baby received post-natal care for one year.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Children through age 18 who are Illinois residence, U.S. citizens or qualified legal immigrants (including refugees and asylees), and meet income requirements. Any pregnant women wo live in Illinois and meet the income requirements are also eligible.



KIDCARE PROGRAM PLANS

KidCare Assist--This plan will pay for children's health care with no co-payments or premiums.
KidCare Share--There is a low co-payment each time the child visits a doctor, clinic, or hospital or gets a prescription filled.
KidCare Premium--Participants in this plan pay a low monthly premium and make a low co-payment for each visit to a doctor, clinic, or hospital and for prescriptions. Immunizations and "well-child care" have no co-payment.
KidCare Rebate--If the child's doctor and hospital services are already covered by your own health insurance, KidCare Rebate can reimburse part of the cost of health insurance for each child.
KidCare Moms and Babies--Throughout pregnancy and the first year of the baby's life, KidCare Moms and Babies covers health care including prenatal visits, delivery services, well-baby care and immunizations with no co-payments or premiums.
