SEIU members deliver quality services for people living with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. A well-trained, stable workforce is critical to providing quality, accessible services.

As states transition to community-based mental health and developmental disabilities facilities without adequate funding, staffing shortages and high turnover caused by inadequate pay and benefits disrupt the continuity of support systems and result in long waiting lists. In an effort to fill gaps in services, families struggle to care for loved ones.

SEIU mental health and developmental disability services workers are committed to improving the quality of services and expanding participant choices while we work for good pay, benefits, and job security. Together with participants, advocates, and providers, we are working for better lives for mental health and developmental disabilities employees and the people they serve.
