Buzz on Lawn Mower Safety

Protect fingers, toes, eyes, and more from injury when using a lawn mower by following these precautions:

Wear sturdy shoes-not sandals-and eye and ear protection.

Clear the lawn of hoses, twigs, rocks and small objects before mowing.

Refuel the mower out-doors before starting it while the engine is cool.

Keep children away from the lawn while it's being mowed. Children younger
than 12 shouldn't operate a walk-behind mower. Children younger than 14
shouldn't operate a riding mower.

Always push the  mower forward. Avoid pulling it backward.

Mow across a slope if you're using a walk-behind mower. Mow up and down a slope if you are riding on a riding mower.

Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plugs before working on a
mower.

Don't remove debris from the mower while the engine is running.
