Walk a Day In My Shoes

Distressing your commute

If you're one of millions of Americans who commute to and from work, you
know the frustration, stress and negative moods that the daily commute can bring. Learn to relax on the road with these tips.

Carpool

You'll likely be bothered less by rush-hour frustrations when sharing a
rise. And carpooling will reduce the number of times you have to drive.

Leave 15 minutes early.

Those rush-hour delays can be especially frustrating and stressful. A
15-minute cushion may give you enough time to remain cam during delays.

Create Calm.

Play music or listen to books on tape while driving. But make sure it
doesn't distract you from the road.

Change the view

Vary your route occasionally. The change in scenery can be refreshing.

Avoid peak hours.

For instance, take a half-hour walk right after work instead of driving home
immediately.

Road rage is destructive-to you and to other drivers. If you find yourself
getting angry or feeling aggressive, pull off and relax for a few minutes.
Take deep breaths and focus on being calm.
