Joining the SEIU Staff

SEIU has a diverse staff comprised of 200 employees who work in our headquarters in Washington, D.C., and nearly 400 more employees who work in jobs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

While many positions require specialized skills and previous experience, there are entry-level and internship positions available, too. The work is stimulating and fulfilling. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative.

From its outset in 1921, SEIU fought for full participation of women and people of color on the job, in the labor movement, and in society. Race and gender equity within SEIU have consistently outpaced societal progress on these fronts and helped set a standard of solidarity within the Labor Movement, long before broad-based campaigns for civil rights and pay equity.

When civil rights come under attack, SEIU redoubles its work for equal opportunity. When women join together to push for affirmative action and an end to sexual harassment, SEIU is out front with them. When lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers speak up for legal protection from violence and discrimination, we take up these calls as an important part of our own mission.

And when immigrants demand an end to the politics of scapegoating and the right to work free of coercion and exploitation, SEIU amplifies their call.
